Securing your Computer and Work space

Here are some General good computing practices and tips that apply to anyone using a computer.

– Shut down, lock, log off your computer leaving it unattended, and make sure they require a secure password to start up or wake-up.

Use these keyboard shortcuts: <ctrl><alt><delete> or <Windows><L>

– Don’t install or download unknown or unsolicited programs/apps to your computer, phone, or other devices. These can harbor behind-the-scenes viruses or open a “back door” giving others access to your devices without your knowledge.

– When traveling, Secure laptop and mobile devices at all time. Phones and laptops get stolen from cars, houses, and offices all the time. Dont leave them unattended at the coffee shop, hotel lobby or sitting on your car seat.

– Dont use a “Post It” to remember your password. Leaving a sticker on your laptop with your login info is just as good as leaving it unlocked.
