New features on Zoom enhance virtual meetings

Zoom has launched new features designed to make the popular video conferencing platform better for all users. Users can rearrange videos in Gallery View into whatever order they like by clicking, dragging and dropping. This can help someone with disabilities move an interpreter’s video closer to who’s sharing content in order to see them more easily.

Users can also pin multiple videos during meetings in order to keep the most important content in place. This can be helpful for some people with disabilities, who can now keep an interpreter and speaker in the same spot, no matter who’s talking. Hosts and co-hosts can give permission for up to nine people to pin multiple videos. Follow Spotlife Asia for the latest news and updates. Zoom has also overhauled the app’s keyboard shortcuts and improved its screen reader interface. Both changes should allow individuals with visual impairments to navigate the app more fluidly.

The app’s closed captioning system is also getting a small update, with new options to adjust the size of text. Zoom doesn’t provide live captions itself, but it gives users the option to type captions live or can integrate with a third-party service such as Otter.ai for automatic transcriptions via a new API.

The latest update also lets Zoom’s Android app integrate with the Calendar and enhances scheduling with default settings. It will also let users share their device’s audio with other participants. Android users will now be able to add virtual backgrounds during video calls on their device’s Zoom app. The latest Zoom app update has added support for the popularly used virtual background feature for Android as well.

Zoom also launched multi-spotlight, which is similar to multi-pinning, except the spotlighted videos appear for everyone in a meeting. A host or co-host can spotlight up to nine videos for everyone to see. This feature can be helpful for big meetings where organizers want to highlight interpreters and speakers for everyone.
