American directs Kannada film via Skype after denied visa

No Visa! No Problem!  ‘Where there is a will there is a way’.

It’s a roadblock that will set a record and make history and a most positive and financially smart approach of movie making.  So the Director of the film was denied visa to India for film making…No big Deal!  In this technologically savvy age nothing seems to be impossible, not even directing a movie set in India but from US.

Randy Kent, an American filmmaker who was supposed to direct his first Kannada film, Road King, was unable to get to India to shoot the film due to some visa issues.  Mateen Hussian, who is a lead actor in the movie, who is also a friend of Kent, came up with a brilliant idea of carrying out the film with Kent as a director via Skype.
There is no doubt that a lot goes into to making a movie and it’s even tougher when  a director figure can’t be physically present but the Road King team has seen much progress with this odd situation.  From location scouting, script reading to even casting was done through Skype by Kent.

Additionally according to crew members, the Skype situation worked out very well as it helped save money as the film was already low-budget production.

Even though conceived from a mere roadblock and taking it up as a positively smart challenge, Randy Kent and the team deserves all the attention they can get because this will be a very first indian film being directed through Skype by a American Director.
